The evening at Tijuana Flats started out with a Tex-Mexican pizza. It was really flavorful and packed that punch of traditional flavor. Ground beef and red sauce topped with cheese made it a Western pizza. The toppings of tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream and jalapenos made it more modern and tastier to eat.
Chicken tacos wrapped in a tortilla filled with a layer of gooey cheese. It felt like something that I would make at midnight to satisfy my cravings and this dish will definitely satisfied any cravings for cheesy goodness. The chips it was paired with were nice and fresh and well salted.
The sangria we had with the meal was fruity and ambrosial in its multifaceted palette. The ice made the texture similar to that of a frozen sangria.
The tacos were followed up by tostadas. Although somewhat similar in appearance to the Mexican pizza it was completely different in flavor. These were slightly spicier with the addition of refried beans, and the cheese had a sharper flavor. All the dishes were excellent but this was definitely my favorite of the night.
The evening was finished up with dessert of fried rolls dusted with powdered sugar and garnished with a chocolate sauce. It was an unexpected sweetness and was definitely addicting.
The decor in the restaurant helped set the mood for the evening in a funky, cool environment decorated with edgy murals and relatable menus. Thank you so much for having me at your event for your new menu! #flatsgoesmac 🌮
